Wednesday night has three big PSL fixtures, but the pick of the action is undoubtedly the clash at Mbombela Stadium between Supersport United and Orlando Pirates.
The two teams have played one match apiece so far in the ongoing league campaign, where they had contrasting fortunes.
Playing away, Matsatsansa faltered in the Tshwane Derby against Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium, while the Buccaneers registered a convincing victory in their round one fixture, brushing Bloemfontein Celtic aside to run off 3-1 winners at home.
However, they have tasted defeat already this season, as they kicked off their Caf Champions League campaign in disappointing fashion, with a defeat to Zambian outfit Green Eagles over the weekend.
PSL team news
In both their competitive matches so far this season, the Soweto giants have been without PSL Player of the Season Thembinkosi Lorch, who suffered a knock prior to their opener against the Free State outfit.
Instead, they have gone with Augustine Mulenga and Justin Shonga up front, flanked by Luvuyo Memela and Vincent Pule in both outings.
There is, however, some good news coming from the Pirates camp, the latest being that Lorch has travelled with the squad to Nelspruit, and could feature at some point during the crucial 90 minutes.
Another Pirates player under a cloud is right back Mthokozisi Dube, who was a constant feature towards the latter stages of the 2018/19 season.
Like Lorch, Dube has not made an appearance for the Buccaneers so far in the current campaign, with Thabiso Monyane starting on the right side of the defence against Celtic, before being replaced by the versatile Asavela Mbekile in Zambia.
For Supersport United, there could be some familiar faces – as far as Orlando Pirates is concerned – in their match day squad.
There two sides engaged in some transfer business in the early days of the window, with Thamsanqa Gabuza and Kudakwashe Mahachi both trading the black and white of the Buccaneers for the blue of the Tshwane giants.
Both players featured in the defeat to Sundowns, and could once again be in the thick of things against their old club.
